Pre-Primary
At St. Wilfred’s High School and Junior College we place great emphasis upon communication and personal, social and emotional development as these support everything else that is taught. Our staff in our Pre- Primary support children well and offer high levels of care so that children feel safe, grow in confidence and are happy. We encourage children to share, to take turns and to behave well. Children clearly enjoy their learning. The Pre-Primary makes use of a range of individual and group activities which create a lively and positive learning environment. Games, songs, creative projects, story-telling, role-playing, drawing and painting help develop children’s foundational skills in literacy and numeracy. They are encouraged to play, explore and discover through dance, music, art and craft. Singing, rhyming and reciting are employed in the Language Arts, and the Phonics.
Primary
It is our intention to seek a better balance and give more equal status to all the subjects we must cover while recognising that proficiency in Literacy and Numeracy underpins a person’s ability to make sense of the world.
Accordingly, our children are encouraged to be creative and every opportunity is taken to develop their confidence, knowledge, self-esteem and life skills through technology, physical education and the creative and performing arts. Through the curriculum we aim to celebrate diversity and challenge discrimination. The wide range of curricular and co-curricular opportunities offered helps instil in children confidence and discipline. The focus on developing communication skills helps them appreciate the value of education, as it reflects in their ability to express themselves, in addition to developing pragmatic skills.
Secondary
The main aims of the secondary section are developing skills related to writing, reading, reflecting, critical thinking, public speaking, fostering initiative among students and a desire to acquire knowledge. Academic subjects include English, Hindi, Marathi, Mathematics, Science, History, and Geography. Art, Computer studies, Music, Yoga and Dance are integrated into the mainstream curriculum and are further strengthened as optional co-curricular activities.
Junior College
At junior college level we offer three streams – Arts , Commerce and Science. With variety of subjects offered for selection. This is a very crucial stage selection of stream and subjects plays an important role for deciding the career . The college faculty, a highly motivated and dedicated team, have ensured that course developments match student requirements and emerging professional trends through continuous innovation.
